Exporting a clean folder

How the export works, what's in the ZIP, and how files are named.

When you're ready to hand off, click Export from the room dashboard. Draftpile bundles everything into a ZIP — files renamed, sorted by item type, finals flagged. It's ready to give to your designer, stage manager, or production team without any renaming on your part.

What's in the ZIP

  • One folder per item type (01_Bio, 02_Headshot, 03_Slides, etc.).
  • Files named as Contributor_Name_Item_Label_Final.ext or _Current.ext.
  • A _Summary folder with a room_summary.pdf (counts, missing items list) and contributor_status.csv.
  • If you export with history enabled, each item folder has a _History subfolder with all previous versions.

File naming

Draftpile ignores the original messy filename (IMG_4821.heic, panel-deck-draft.pdf) and rebuilds it cleanly from the contributor name, item label, and status. For example: Maya_Okonkwo_Headshot_Final.jpg.

TipOnly items marked Final are included in the main folders. Items with status Received are included too — they show as _Current instead of _Final. Missing items are not included but appear in the summary.

The summary PDF

room_summary.pdf contains the room name, total item counts (Final / Received / Missing), and a list of every missing or needs-update item by contributor. Useful as a handoff note.

The status CSV

contributor_status.csv has one row per item per contributor, showing name, role, item label, status, filename, and file size. Useful for reporting or dropping into a spreadsheet.
